Air Quality Router starts with a selected place, walking or jogging intent, availability windows, Target AQI, and nearby route options. Route cards keep estimated AQI, distance, timing, freshness, and plain-language reason lines together so each comparison stays useful without becoming a guarantee.
Carry the reviewed route into the routine
Route-aware daily summaries can prepare the usual outdoor window when background time is available, and a reviewed route can open in Apple Maps for directions. Plus adds saved places, cleaner-later opportunities, selected-route reminders, Calendar follow-through, Scheduled Routes, Mac planning, and Apple Watch guidance. On Apple Watch, Plus can start an eligible selected walking route as a Guided AQI-Aware Walk with visible and haptic course states. Supported settings and route-selection state can sync through iCloud across signed-in Apple devices.
Estimated AQI depends on source availability and freshness
Measured air-quality readings use OpenAQ and listed source providers where available. CAMS / Copernicus ADS forecasts fill gaps when recent readings are unavailable or incomplete. The app labels recent, forecast, cached, and limited states so a recommendation can be read with the available evidence in mind.
Privacy stays visible
Location coordinates may be sent to the configured Cloudflare AQ Proxy for air-quality snapshot requests. Calendar information remains on device and is not sent to the Cloudflare AQ Proxy, OpenAQ, CAMS / Copernicus ADS, or other external air-quality providers. With permission, Guided AQI-Aware Walk saves a standard walking workout and actual route to Apple Health; Air Quality Router keeps no separate workout history. No advertising or third-party analytics are included.
Starter covers a focused daily route
Starter is included with the paid app purchase. It supports one active place per day, up to three route choices, one shared outdoor window across the week, route-aware daily summaries, AQI labels, Activity & Air notes, and Apple Maps directions.
Plus extends planning depth and devices
Plus supports up to 10 active places per day and four route choices, saved places, separate day-by-day outdoor windows, custom Target AQI, cleaner-later forecast opportunities, selected-route reminders, Calendar follow-through, Scheduled Routes, Mac route planning, and Guided AQI-Aware Walk on Apple Watch. Mac route planning requires Air Quality Router Plus with an active monthly or yearly auto-renewable subscription managed by Apple. Guided Walk is available only for an eligible selected walking route; ordinary route planning and Apple Maps remain available without Health access. Plus expands planning depth without turning estimated AQI into a safety claim. Plus is not a safety upgrade.
